I noticed I’m not the only one that worries about statistics. Many bloggers are inspired by others, and this means that the blogger is trying to keep up with successful blogs like John Chow dot Com which are receiving mind boggling amounts of visitors that as a new blogger, we can only dream of. I think it’s important that we try not to look or completely not look at their statistics. If you go searching for the statistics you will be trying to play catch up and your blog’s aims will be affected.

Blogging About something you Love
Numbers in statistics should mean nothing when you are blogging. If you are blogging about something you love to write about then statistics should not be a problem and you should just be writing because you want to.

Your Stats can affect Your Mood
If your blog is not performing well you can be influenced by your statistics. If you’re doing the right things, you should see a rise in visitors, but if you don’t after a few months you may start to be influenced by your statistics. Don’t let them put you down and out. They can affect your writing confidence and activities on your blog. Try something new and don’t get down. Remember successful bloggers don’t happen over night; they take time and sustained efforts.

Focus on Content
Writing killer content is the key to success. You have to find a balance between your writing and promoting your content. Maybe dedicate a day to each if you are not a daily poster? Gathering visitors and not providing content will push them away like a cat runs away from water.

Act on Your Statistics, Come Back and be Surprised!
Take a look at your statistics, if you don’t like them and want to improve them, leave them alone and go do some work. Set yourself some goals, find ways of gaining traffic and work endlessly to promote your website. The whole time you’re doing this make sure you are not looking at your statistics. You need to give yourself a chance to return in a few days/weeks and see a nice rise in visitors. This will boost your confidence and let you know your doing something right.

Remember statistics aren’t everything!
