Make money with photography.

January 9th, 2008 Posted in Making Money

I like to do some hiking in my free time, which involves me usually taking my camera along and taking photos of different things. About a year ago I started selling the photos on different stock sites. This is a great alternative to make a little extra money here and there. The payout per photo may not seem like a lot $0.25 to $1.00 per sale, but if you upload a few 100 photos (that are accepted by the program) then you can make a lot or a little.

It really depends on the quality and the demand for they type of photos you are submitting. I have had a lot denied but also alt approved. My camera set up is nothing to professional. I have a Canon XT, a Sigma 500 Super Flash, a few standard lenses,  a Sigma 150 macro lens, and a Tripod.  Don’t think you really need alot of equipment I have submitted a few photos with my 3.5 pixel Point-and-Shoot that have got accepted.

The sites I have used:
Shutterstock
Dreamstime
istockphoto

Referral Program: All three of these also offer referral programs to refer new photographers of stock buyers.
