This week we have an interview with Ty from Tysblog.com. We will take a peek at what motivated Ty to blog and get a little inside information about the blog and Ty. The questions are similar to last weeks interview, I did not have a lot of time to work on a whole list of new questions, but I did add one or two new ones to the list. Be sure to hop over and check out Ty’s blog, you will find a lot of good information of Blogging tips and tricks, along with some fun stuff and video jokes. Cheers to Ty for taking the time to do the quick interview questions.
What is your blog/blogs url?

What made you start blogging?
I was interested in blogging for sometime but didn’t really take the plunge until I read an article about John Chow in Inc. Magazine. Once I read that piece I decided to jump in with both feet.
What do you like to blog about the most?
I usually stick to stuff that is of a benefit to my readers. Being that the majority of my readers are bloggers themselves I like to blog about SEO tips, marketing ideas, content development, and so on. I also like to throw in some funny things here-and-there to keep things entertaining.
What is your motivation?
My family. I know my blog has the potential to find a high level of success. This success will be just one more element to help provide the best life I can for them. And of course, I wouldn’t mind making a healthy income doing something I love to do too.
Where do you get the ideas for your posts?
All over the place. Other blogs, newspapers, TV, everywhere. It’s odd what will inspire me to do a particular post. I could be watching a TV news bit about some virus and I think of a viral marketing idea and post about it. You never know when/where/why inspiration will hit.
What marketing strategies do you use to get your blog noticed?
I network a lot at places like Entrecard, MyBlogLog, and blogcatalog. I also use social networks like StumbleUpon, Digg, and the like a bit too. Additionally, I’m very quick to go out of my way to help anyone who asks for it. I think this is a very beneficial way to get your name out there via word of mouth. 1 happy reader leads to 100 - 100 leads to 1000 - and so on… Over time word of mouth can be huge!
What one blogger do you look up to the most and why?
I don’t look up to one the most. There are several that have things to teach you and look up to them all for different reasons. I like John Chow (johnchow.com) because he’s a master of self promotion, Darren Rowse (ProBlogger.com) because he has really, really good content and understands the importance of communicating with his readers (chow is pretty good at this too). I’m a fan of Arianna Huffington (huffingtonpost.com) and Michael Arrington (techcrunch.com) not only for creating world class blogs, but for bringing blogging to attention of the world. If it wasn’t for people like them I think blogs would still be considdered nothing more than a vehicle for hippies/teenagers/emo’s/what have you, to blow off steam and rant.
What is your best months income?
My blogs business model doesn’t include making money until after the third month. The 14th of April was only it’s 2nd, so monetization will come in the next month or two.
What did you do that month that was different than previous months?
When I do implement my monetization plan it will consist of selling private ad space and doing select paid reviews.
Do you have another job or are you a full/partime blogger?
I’m also a professional photographer! See: http://www.tyhurd.com if you’re in Denver and wanna book a shoot!
Where do you see yourself/blog in 2 years?
Eating an $88 burger with John Chow… No really, I hope to see it at a level of steady growth, and have plans to introduce another website helping people raise money for their online business ventures. My income goal for after 12 months is at LEAST $10k/month, so after two years… $25k a month?…
What do you do when you are not blogging?
I’m hanging out with my kids, working on my photography, and thinking about what I can do to make my blog even better!

Great interview. Ty was the first person to reach out to me when I first started my blog. He was kind enough to design my Entrecard logo and send it to me for free. Ty is definitely one of the good guys.
