I stumbled across BlogUpp last week. Anyone familiar with Entrecard are Spottt has a good idea of what they do. BlogUpp is another link exchange/banner exchange service for your blog. It does have a few more diffrences than the other related link exchange widgets around.BlogUpp is a bit different from Spottt, Entrecard, and BlogRush but does lack as the interaction and communication between bloggers and the ads that appear on there site is limited. Though with any of these widgets it is a trial an error to see which works. I may drop it in on one of my other blogs and see what kind of results it brings. If it is effective I may add it here.
How does it work – from the BlogUpp site:
- BlogUpp! snapshots your blog and reads your RSS regularly
- Blog’s thumbnail shows on other blogs with our service activated
- The thumbnail is accompanied by your blog’s most recent article
- For every 10 readers of your blog, it is shown to 9 readers on other blogs
- An identical widget projects on your weblog (as shown on the right), with relevant blogs and articles (move the mouse over the widget)
- Each link clicked in the widget opens a new window, not closing your blog
- And all this is completely free and with no effort whatsoever
Why is Blogupp different?
The BlogUpp service does make things a little more simple than the other services. There is no registration or account. You simply put in your URL, grab your code, add it to your site and BlogUpp does the other work for you, like category placement and adding others to your widget.
The one thing I do find interesting is the way that the sites are displayed on the BlogUpp widget and it is a lot different that the others. There is no need to upload an image, the screenshot is automatically taken from your blog. When someone rolls over your screenshot your recent post is shown from your RSS. The widget seems a little bulky though from the example on the site and there seems to only be that one size which is like 150×350 so there is a limit of the size of your choices, which may present a problem for some bloggers if they would prefer a choice. The Exchange Ratio is a little nicer than Spottt and Blogrush with a 10:9 exchange rate. The is a comparison chart at the BlogUpp blog that shows the differences between there service verses Entrecard, Spottt and BlogRush. See the chart.
Some other differences – from the BlogUpp site:
- No registration and no account required
- No email and privacy exposure
- No ad submission and no efforts
- No animation and annoying ads
- Cheat-proof and fair sharing
- WordPress platform and alike friendly
- Targeted readers reach
- Welcome bonus for everyone
- Best de facto exchange ratio (10:9)
- SEO freindly links exchange
- Designed for blogs but any site with an RSS can use it.
BlogUpp has it’s potential, I can see it being a better alternative for Spottt and Blogrush, not really for Entrecard. It does seem like a easy and simple application to drive a little more traffic to your site be shown though out the blogsphere. Why not give it a try. Let me know if you have tried the service and what it has offered you in terms of traffic, I would like to know.

I’ve just started using Blogupp myself and I’ve gotten a few hits from it. I do notice, however, that whenever I go to a site that promotes it, I can never find the Blogupp widget on that site. Does Blogupp cut you a deal for promoting them where you don’t actually have to use the widget to get hits from them? Just curious.
